Inspired by the quiet beauty of a woodland canopy in midsummer, Gilded Canopy captures the ever-changing patterns of sunlight filtering through leaves, where light and shadow drift across the forest floor.

Each piece begins with carefully layered metallic polymer clay, transformed using the traditional mokume gane technique to reveal intricate organic patterns that are unique to every creation. The raised botanical design is then highlighted with an antique gold metallic finish, adding warmth and depth while allowing the layered background to remain visible beneath.

The pendant is suspended from a decorative gold-plated chain with a classic hook-and-eye clasp and is accompanied by coordinating drop earrings with gold-plated ear wires. A protective gloss finish enhances the richness of the colours while helping preserve the intricate surface detail.

Because every sheet of mokume gane polymer clay is created by hand, no two pieces are ever identical. Each Gilded Canopy set is an original work of wearable art, handcrafted in Scotland.

“Standing beneath a woodland canopy in summer, I have always been fascinated by the way sunlight filters through the leaves, creating shifting patterns that never stay the same. I wanted to capture that quiet beauty in polymer clay.

By layering metallic clay using the traditional mokume gane technique, every piece develops its own distinctive pattern before being highlighted with an antique gold metallic finish. Just as no two moments in nature are ever identical, no two Gilded Canopy pieces are exactly alike.”
